Question

Is blue-black hair permissible? By this, I mean hair that is predominantly black but has tints of blue or appears mostly blue under certain lighting conditions.

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question. 

According to the Shafi‘i Madhhab, dyeing the hair black is impermissible (haram) for both males and females, except during jihad for men. [Shams al-Din al-Ramli, Nihayat al-Muhtaj]

However, both Ramlis, father and son, permit a married woman to dye her hair black with her husband’s permission. [Tirmisi, Hashiya]
