Using Ad Blocking Software on Sites Not Allowing Them?

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Question

YouTube seems to be cracking down on the usage of ad blockerss. If they don’t go as far as stopping you from watching videos, can one still continue to use such ad blockers?

Answer

I hope you’re doing well, insha’Allah.

There are differing approaches to this issue.

Personally, given the nature of ads and the legal permissibility of ad blocker software, I don’t see using them as impermissible.

And Allah is the giver of success and facilitation.
