Is My Husband Possessed When He Gets Angry?

Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad

Question

How does one determine whether a shaytan is possessing someone when they are triggered with anger? Someone who is subdued in Ramadan, and at times of prayer and Quran, but who without cause will get angry at his wife when they think they are being challenged?

He appears to have a light on his face after prayer and Quran, but quickly looks like he has a face of darkness when angry with eyes that become really black, almost, more black than usual? I have zam zam water at home. I can’t read Arabic but very slowly. I know my ‘Quls‘ and the first ten lines of surah Yaseen by heart. Shall I read this over some water and give it to him to drink?

Answer

Thank you for your question. Certainly, there is no harm in reading Qur’an over Zamzam water and giving it to him to drink. I am not sure why you believe that he might be possessed by a jinn and not that it is merely bad character or simple anger on his part.

Please see this link for verses by the Prophet to be read over a person possessed with jinn.

Here is some excellent advice on preliminary steps to take if one fears being harassed by the jinn:

Commit to being the best wife and the best Muslim that you can be. Be open to discussion and communication with him. Show him love and respect in all situations and in sha Allah, if it is not jinn, but rather his displeasure, then by the grace of Allah, he will calm down and not get as angry. May Allah give bless your family in piety, worship and tawfiq together.
