Question
What should be said or avoided when speaking to a scholar to ensure proper etiquette?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
To maintain reverence and respect for one whom Allah has given knowledge of the religion, one should treat them and speak to them with a level of deference and respect.
As for the specifics, this may differ based on different cultures. In general, one should be respectful in how to address the scholar, how they frame their questions, and the proper times to ask questions. [Zarnuji, Ta’lim al-Muta’allim]
