Is It Permissible for Me to Recite the Quran with My Chest Exposed during Breastfeeding?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

Is it permissible to recite the Qur’an while breastfeeding with my breast uncovered at home to monitor my baby’s latch?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

Yes, it is permissible. Although it would be ideal to be fully covered while reciting the Quran, one is permitted to recite despite being partially uncovered due to breastfeeding – especially when there is a need to do so.
