Can I Marry My Niece in Jannah?
Answered by Shaykh Irshaad Sedick
Question
Can I marry my niece in Jannah?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
In Janna, there is only purity and goodness. Allah (Most High) will grant believers whatever (pure things) bring them joy and fulfilment in ways that align with His wisdom. While earthly restrictions and familial boundaries will not limit us in Paradise, Allah ultimately determines what will bring each person complete happiness within the boundaries of what He set for Janna.
Allah says: “Ask, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Who has forbidden the adornments and lawful provisions Allah has brought forth for His servants?” Say, “They are for the enjoyment of the believers in this worldly life, but they will be exclusively theirs on the Day of Judgment.1 This is how We make Our revelations clear for people of knowledge.” [Quran, 7:32]
Allah says: “There they will never hear any idle or sinful talk— only good and virtuous speech.” [Quran, 56:25-26]
“They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more.” [Quran, 50:35]
Important Caution
If this question arises from a personal situation, it is crucial to approach it with care. Islam strongly prohibits marriage with certain close relatives, including a niece, in this life. Such desires should be carefully managed by creating sufficient emotional and physical distance from her to protect one’s integrity and well-being. If you are struggling with an unlawful desire, please seek professional counsel.
Allah knows best, and may He guide us to what is pure and permissible.
