Question: Asalamu’alaikum,

I have a muslim office boy in my employ who doesn’t manage his money well, and ends up asking for an advance, which is then deductible from his future salary. We stopped giving an advance to make him stable and to learn to exist on what he receives monthly. But occasionally his family back home needs extra money and he doesn’t have the extra to send home. Can I give him charity money in a way that he doesn’t realize from where the money came so that he doesn’t think he can now ask for personal favours?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

Yes, this would be permitted. Giving in charity is an action of tremendous reward.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “If anyone gives in sadaqa as much as a date from honest earnings – and Allah only accepts what is good – Allah will accept it in His right hand and will then increase it in size for the giver, just like one of you might rear a foal, until it is the size of a mountain.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

May Allah grant you great good in this life and the next for your concern and righteous intentions.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
