Is It Permissible to Work on Enrolling Students in a College If Some Courses Offered Are Impermissible?

Answered by Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat

Question

Is it permissible to work on enrolling students in a college if some courses offered are impermissible, like music or mixed-gender physical contact?

Answer

I pray you are well.

Yes, it is permissible to work in this role as you are not sinning in it, nor are you directly assisting others in sin. Whatever they do I their own deliberate choice, so you are not sinful. [Marghinani, Hidaya]

If there are unlawful things you see you should hate it in your heart as it contradicts the commands of Allah and pray for Allah to improve things for everyone. This is based on the hadith: “Whoever of you sees something reprehensible should change it with his hand; whoever cannot, then with his tongue; whoever cannot, then with his heart.” [Muslim]

May Allah grant you the best of both worlds.
