How to Perform ’Umra in Case of Failing to Maintain Wudu?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat

Question

If a person can’t keep his wudu, not even for a moment, then how can he perform ‘Umra?

Answer

You can still perform an ‘umra easily and efficiently. The only thing in an ‘umra which requires wudu is the tawaf. If you have difficulty keeping your wudu the rulings of chronic excuses will probably apply to you. [Maydani, al Lubab]

Turn to Allah and Seek a Cure

Your issue is something many people have. Rest assured, all chronic excuses have a cure. Turn to Allah Most High and ask for a way out from it. Tell Him you seek to be able to worship Him better and more efficiently.

Allah Most High has promised a response, “Your Lord proclaimed, ‘Call on Me, I will surely respond.’” [Quran, 40:60] Keep asking, and Allah will either give you what you ask, or avert some commensurate harm from you, or save it as a reward for the Akhira. In all cases, you benefit.

May Allah grant you the best of both worlds.
