Will Allah Help Me Pay Back My Loans?

Hanafi Fiqh

Question

I’m going through a trial from Allah Most High regarding wealth or lack thereof. I’m the only breadwinner in my family, but somehow or rather, it’s barely enough. Recently, I made a mistake by making some loans to pay off some debts. But now it seems they cannot service the loans, and they have chased me.

Will Allah Most High help me with my problems in paying back the loans? How do I go about it in getting Allah’s help?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

Sincere Repentance

Allah Most High says, “If you help Allah, Allah will help you and make firm your feet.”
[Quran, 47:07]

If one is truly sincere, repents from their sin, and strives to reconcile their state, Allah Most High will undoubtedly accept their repentance and help that back to the straight path.

Conditions of Sincere Repentance

Take the following steps:

  • Repent to Allah by regretting your actions and making a solid resolve to never return to such things.
  • Make a financial plan for a realistic way to pay back your debts as soon as possible.
  • Recite the following supplication morning and evening

Supplication for Protection from Debt

“O Allah I seek refuge in you from worry and grief, incapacity and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debt and the overpowering of people.” [Bukhari]

Hope this helps
Allah A’lam
