Is Paradise a Place to Pleasure Males and Deprive Women?

Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad

Question

Before you judge me please try to understand me. In hell, people are punished because they have sinned not because they are male or female. Let’s say we have two people whom each have got 100% so their mum rewards them exactly in the way they desire. If she didn’t do that, it will be unjust, right?

If a man and a woman have worked towards getting to the highest level in paradise. A man’s innermost desire is to have many wives and not share them. He will be given that. Every woman’s desire is not to have a co-wife, yet is she given her desire in paradise? Does the Quranic verse of people getting what they desire in paradise only apply to men while females are deprived?

Answer

Thank you for your question. I also ask you to please try to understand Allah’s wisdom, His religion and His book before you judge your Creator and find fault in Him.

Parable

Your parable of the mother who rewards her two children equally is incorrect. Allah Most High created us and knows better than us what we desire. A mother is a faulty human who doesn’t necessarily know her children as well as you think. You must trust that your every desire will be fulfilled without anything being detracted from your pleasure at all. Allah has promised this in His book. Is it not good enough for you?

Presupposition

You make a faulty assumption when you say that every woman doesn’t want a co-wife, I can assure you that is not true. Once again, you will know in Paradise, in sha Allah, what you want, and Allah will already have that planned for you. Please try to think outside of this earthly realm, and have contentment with what Allah has told us in His book, “They shall have whatever they wish with their Lord.” [Quran, 39:34]

Quran

Contemplate this verse, and ponder whether Paradise is a place for male fulfilment and female deprivation:  Allah Most High has said, “Surely ˹for˺ Muslim men and women, believing men and women, devout men and women, truthful men and women, patient men and women, humble men and women, charitable men and women, fasting men and women, men and women who guard their chastity, and men and women who remember Allah often—for ˹all of˺ them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.” [Quran, 33:35] Does the above verse sound like Allah is being unfair to you?
