What Will Be The Fate of The Sacrificial Animals on the Day of Judgement?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

Are there any references in the Quran or Sunna that indicate the fate of the animals sacrificed during Eid al-Adha? I’m asking because I developed an emotional attachment to one of the animals we sacrificed recently.
Jazakallahu Khairan for answering.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

Animals, in general, do not enter Paradise or Hell. However, in Paradise, you can have anything you want, so if you want your pet there, Allah Most High will grant it to you. Thus, worldly pets will not be in Paradise. However, if one’s pet does cross his mind in Paradise, and he asks for it, Allah Most High will fulfill his request.

You Will Have Whatever You Want in Paradise

There (Paradise), they will have whatever they desire, and with Us is ˹even˺ more.

[Quran, 50:35]

Burayda ibn al-Hasib reported that a man asked the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), “O Messenger of Allah, will there be camels in Paradise?” The Prophet said, “If Allah admits you into Paradise, you will have therein whatever your soul desires and pleases your eyes.” [Tirmidhi]

Animals in Paradise (Janna)

There are narrations of the Prophet Muḥammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) suggesting that certain animals will also be made to reside in Paradise after the resurrection.

Ten animals are mentioned, the she-camel of Prophet Salih (peace be upon him), the calf of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), the cow of Musa (peace be upon him), the fish of Yunus (peace be upon him), the ant of  Sulaiman (peace be upon him), the hoopoe (hudhud) of Bilqis, the dog of the People of the Cave, the ram of Ismail (peace be upon him), the donkey of Uzair (peace be upon him), the Buraq of  Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace).
