Is It Permissible to Sell AI-Generated Art Prints Online?
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
Is it permissible to sell AI-generated art prints online for passive income and promote them through social media? I plan to link to my shop to increase traffic.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
If the content of AI-generated art prints is non-human and free from any form of indecency or obscenity, then it is permissible. However, it is not permissible if the content portrays human nature or includes human figures.
It is important to remember that goodness should be promoted through moral content and meaningful work.
The Best People are Those Who Benefit Others
Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) reported the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “The believer is friendly and befriended, for there is no goodness in one who is neither friendly nor befriended. The best of people are those who are most beneficial to people.”
[Tabarani, al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat]
Sahl Ibn Sa‘d (Allah be pleased with him) said that The Messenger of Allah (Allah be pleased with him) said: “This goodness contains many treasures, and for those there are keys. So glad tidings to the one whom Allah makes a key to good and a lock for evil, and woe to the one whom Allah makes a key to evil and a lock to good.” [Ibn Maja]
