Question

Can I lead someone else in prayer if I am praying a make-up (qada) and they are praying a current performance (ada)?

Answer

Thank you for your important question.

Yes, it is perfectly valid to lead someone else in prayer if you are praying a make-up (qada) and they are praying a current performance (ada). However, it is better to pray separately. (Tuhfa al Muhtaj, Ibn Hajar)

It is not valid in the Hanafi school for someone to follow an imam who is praying a different obligatory prayer to themselves. (al Mukhtar, Mawsili; al Hidaya, Marghinani)

I pray this helps.
