Does Reciting Ra and Lam without Heaviness Invalidate My Prayer?

Answered by Ustadh Farid Dingle

Question

Recently I learned that the letters ‘ra’ and ‘laam’ have to be pronounced heavily in some places and lightly in other places (tafkheem and tarqeeq). But it takes a little bit time for me to pronounce in that way correctly and I end up taking so much time to perform the salah.

So my question is, can i not care about that tajweed rule and just pronounce those letters? will that affect the validity of my salah?

Answer

Thank you for your important question.

Whether one recites the R or L heavily or not does not affect the prayer.
