Interview for a Job and Ethic.

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: Assalam alaykum

My friend and I applied to the same job. For the company we applied to, there were two different positions. I applied to both positions and she applied to only one. For the position we both applied to, she was invited to an interview but I was not.

She texted me the questions right after her interview and now I feel really guilty because I have the interview questions for an upcoming interview for the job we both applied to.

How I should approach this?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

Interviews aren’t really like exams, so although you may know some potential questions, in reality, they may be alternating a series of questions which they have for interviewees. Moreover, employers are usually looking for more than a correct answer, unless the job depends on such exacting proficiency, so sometimes your manner and the way you answer is more indicative of who you are than the answer itself. Accordingly, you needn’t worry about the matter. Perhaps knowing the precise questions would give you a slight advantage over others, but the blessing of a job is from Allah Most High alone.
