What are the repercussions of having sex during one’s period? What are the things that the man and woman should do to purify themselves?

Answer

Thank you for your question. What you mentioned is impermissible, so repentance will be necessary as well as a ritual bath.

Repentance

Repentance for this enormity is a must, and one should fear the devastating consequences of fornication, spiritually and emotionally.  Resolve not to go near this sin again, and if you have difficulty with your lusts, consider marriage. Please see these tips on how to repent:

Ritual Bath

It is obligatory for both parties to take a ritual bath in order to be pure to pray. The woman may delay her bath until after her period is over. Once again, be sure to cease immediately from this behavior, as intercourse during menstruation can be harmful. This is just another indication that the woman is being used and objectified.
