Is It More in Line with the Sunna to Be Competitive in Games?
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
Is being competitive and wanting to win in games, to the point of frustration when mistakes occur, praiseworthy? Or is it more in line with the Sunna to play casually without concern for winning or losing?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Indeed Allah loves that when His servant does an action that they do so excellently.” [Bayhaqi, Shu‘ab al-Iman]
This would indeed apply to competitions. However, it is also an ethical requirement for Muslims to not be sore losers or boastful winners.
Hope this helps
