Question

Is it permissible to use employer-provided health and dental insurance if it reduces financial strain and has no affordable alternatives?

Answer

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

You can take advantage of health and dental insurance provided by your employer, which is not deducted from your salary, easing financial strain on you and your family.

Generally, any kind of insurance is prohibited. However, you are permitted to use the provided facility since you do not have an agreement with the insurance company; your employer handles it and pays the premium itself. Also, the legal maxim is clear: “Necessities permit the prohibited.”
