Question: Is there any dua from Sunnah between Iqaama and Takbir e Tahrima? All this time I had been reading the same dua which we make after Adhan, is it okay?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I hope you are in the best of health and spirits insha’Allah.

It is permitted to make any supplication between the iqama and the opening takbir of the prayer. Furthermore, the Fatawa Hindiyya mentions that it is permitted to engage in supplication as the iqama is being said.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) told us in a hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (Allah be pleased with him), “Ask Allah for well-being (`afiya) in this life and the next” [Tirmidhi]

Though, one starts one’s prayer with the imam whenever he begins, without rushing, and whilst striving to attain the presence of heart which is sought.

And Allah knows best.
