Can I Recite The Recommended Suras In My Prayer?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat

I know it is recommended to read sura al-Mulk every night and to read sura al-Kahf on Fridays.
Is it ok to read sura al-Mulk in my isha prayer which I tend to read late nights anyway and to read sura al-Kahf in my isha prayer on Thursday night?

I pray you are well.

Yes, it is fine to recite these and other recommended suras in your prayer. The recommendation and promise of reward are tied to just reciting them, and not reciting them in a specific way.

In fact, it is a sunna to recite sura al-Mulk in the two sunna units after the maghrib prayer. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

In any case, there is more reward associated with reciting the Quran within the prayer.

May Allah facilitate its continuance for you and grant you acceptance and all the promised rewards.
