Does Mixed Madhi And Mani Make Clothing And Furniture Impure?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
I was lying on my stomach and became aroused. I am certain I emitted madhi and later emitted mani, which likely mixed together and wet my clothes. Does this mixture make the wetness najis?
Also, since I was lying directly on a dark-colored couch and saw no visible traces, is the couch considered najis, or must it be purified to avoid the transfer of impurity if it is touched with moisture?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
Both pre-seminal fluid (madhi) and semen (mani) are impure substances. By exiting, madhi breaks the ablution, and semen (mani) necessitates the ritual bath (ghusl). [Maydani, al-Lubab fi Sharh al-Kitab]
In the scenario you described, your clothing is definitely impure and must be washed. However, if no traces are clearly present on the couch, the couch remains pure. [Ibid.]
Hope this helps
