Does Oily Hands Affect the Removal of Impurity in Istinjaa’?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

I am following Hanafi madhhab. After eating a meal, if you have traces of oil on your hands and you do istinjaa’ but simply washing private parts with these hands (without) washing your hands or private parts (three times) will my hands become impure because if I use these oily hands in istinjaa’ and washing only once?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

The oil does not affect the removal of impurity in istinjaa’, nor will your hand become impure due to it.

It is not a condition to wash three times. Wash until you are sure or near certain that the impurities have been removed, and that suffices. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

Hope this helps
