How Do I Know That I Did or Did Not Ejaculate during a Wet Dream?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

How can I know I did climax in a wet dream? I saw a wet dream. In the dream, there was no climax. Can I be sure that I did not climax in real life as well?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

If, upon waking up from sleep, you clearly notice wetness of a sexual nature on your body, clothing, or bedding, consider it a nocturnal emission (ihtilam) and perform the ritual bath (ghusl). Recalling a dream or the details of the dream is not relevant to the ruling. [Ala’ al-Din Abidin, al-Hadiyya al-‘Ala’iyya]

If you do not clearly notice wetness of a sexual nature on your body, clothing, or bedding, ignore it and move on as normal. [Ibid.]

Hope this helps
