Is it permissible for a man to watch his wife give birth?

Answer: assalamu alaykum

It is permitted for a husband to watch his wife give birth. Doing so with the intention of supporting one’s wife through the process and witnessing the blessing of birth would make the act rewarding.

As for cases where husbands are discouraged from attending childbirth, these seem to largely return to customary norms and preferences. Religiously, there is nothing wrong with it as I have mentioned above.
