Is My Final Compensation Halal If I Left Early With Permission After Being Insulted?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
Is the final compensation I received from my previous job halal, even though I stopped attending during my notice period after being insulted, but had informed my managers and was given early release?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.
Your final compensation is halal because you informed your managers before leaving, and they approved your early release. The payment was for completed work or agreed-upon terms. There was no deception or breach of trust.
You are acting within the law’s bounds and not taking anything by deception.
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:
“Whoever deceives us is not of us.” [Muslim]
