Does Touching Dried Urine on Part of a Wall Make You Impure?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

There is a lime wall in my house, and there is urine on it which has already dried. Accidentally I touched the wall, and white stains on that part of the lime wall came to my hand. I do want to know whether it has some impurity or whether white stains become impure if it becomes wet. Please help because I’m suffering from severe doubts.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

If traces of dried urine appear on your hand, your hand is impure. If the traces do not appear, your hands are pure. What is intended by the ‘traces’ is the smell or color of the impurity.

Disregard Doubts

In situations like this, apply the principle “everything is considered pure until one is certain or near certain of the contrary.”

Thus if you suffer from doubts, know that doubts are not strong enough to consider something impure. Therefore the doubts should always be ignored.
