Does Each Makeup Prayer During Ramadan Count as 70 Makeup Prayers?

Question

I have missed almost five years of missed prayers. It is also said that during Ramadan, when one prays a Fard prayer, he/she is counted as reading 70 to 70,000 times of that prayer. So, can I make up my prayers according to this? Can I assume that each of my prayers is multiplied by 70 and make up my prayers according to that? Or do I have to make up my prayers one by one?

Answer

I pray this finds you in the best of health and faith.

May Allah bless you for your commitment to make up your missed prayers. In sha’ Allah, you will find much tawfiq and baraka in your life for doing so.

In terms of your specific questions, you have to make them up individually.

Reward pertains to the compensation you will receive in the next life, inshaAllah. As you mention, for each fard prayer in Ramadan, it will be as if you prayed 70 prayers in terms of reward.

However, the debt you owe Allah in this life is based on what was missed: if five years of prayers were missed, five years of prayers must be made up.

And Allah knows best.
