Is It Disrespectful To Think About Islam in the Toilet?

Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad

Question

I was in the toilet and trying not to think about Islam for the sake of Allah. I avoid thinking about Him, His creation (Quran, prophets, angels, jinns) because I do not want to disrespect the gift of Islam that Allah has given me and the gift of practicing Islam.

Is it disrespectful to think about Islam in the toilet, which is a place of impurity?

Answer

There is no problem with thinking about these things while you are in the bathroom; this does not entail disrespect.

If you were to utter any dhikr while in the bathroom, this would be disliked, but otherwise, thinking about your blessings is fine. May Allah increase you in every good and guide you always.
