Does Shaytan Make Us Sin?

Question: Assalamu ‘alaykum. Do we sin because of shaytan or is it because of us?

Answer:

Wa ‘alaykum assalam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.

I pray you are well.

Our sins are our own. We commit them deliberately or accidentally. Shaytan cannot make us do anything. His role is in influencing people to do what is wrong – and what a consequential role it is.

Influence is very powerful. This is why we are told to reflect on the Qur’an, study the ways of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), and to have good company. It can make all the difference.

This is why we need Allah’s protection from the Devil. He very experienced, and he knows how to manipulate human beings.

Please watch this and this explanation of this in our Tafsir course.
May Allah protect us from the Devil and all his tricks.
