Does Waterproof Wart Cream Affect the Validity of Wudu and Ghusl?

Question

Does using a waterproof wart treatment cream that forms a barrier affect the validity of wudu and ghusl?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

If the warts are causing you undue difficulty and/or pain, and the cream is needed to treat the warts, it is permissible to apply the cream (even if it is waterproof) and to merely pass water overtop of it when performing wudu or ghusl. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]

If there is no undue difficulty, you must remove the cream (or use a non-waterproof cream) before washing the area in wudu of ghusl. [Ibid.]

Hope this helps
