Question

What should I do if my husband is abroad and neither supports me nor communicates with me?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate.

Seeking Your Rights With Wisdom

You have a right to seek your rights, but this should be done with consideration, intelligence, and wisdom. You must seek to rectify matters.

Begin by addressing the situation directly with your husband. If that is not possible or effective, seek assistance from his family or others who may be able to help facilitate a resolution.

Consulting Those of Knowledge and Experience

If these efforts are not yielding results, consult scholars and experienced individuals urgently.

At times, there may be people within your own family or within your husband’s family who can be of assistance. Likewise, turn to scholars, the learned, and leaders within your community.

Do not exhaust the effort, and do not abandon taking the proper means.

Turning to Allah While Taking Means

You are not alone in this. Take the means available to you while also turning to Allah through prayer and supplication, asking for facilitation.

You must do both: turn to Allah with prayer and supplication, and also take all the means.

Allah Most High says:

“O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer.” [Quran, 2:153]

Know that you are not alone, and that Allah assists us through the means that He has facilitated for us.

And Allah is the giver of success and facilitation.
