Does Dental Glue Affect The Validity of Ghusl?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
If some dental glue remains on the teeth after brace removal, does this affect the validity of ghusl? Is it obligatory to have all remaining glue removed for ghusl to be valid?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
If the residual glue from the braces can be removed without undue difficulty or harm, it is obligatory to remove it, as the inside of the mouth is an obligation to wash in the ritual bath (ghusl). [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]
If water is prevented from reaching any portion of the mouth, the ritual bath is invalid. However, if removing the glue will cause harm or undue difficulty, or if removing the glue itself is unduly difficult, the ritual bath is valid due to necessity. [Ibid.]
Hope this helps
