Can I Upload Videos with AI Generated Subtitles of Quranic Verses If They May Contain Errors?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

Can I upload videos with AI-generated subtitles if some Quranic verses may contain errors, despite my efforts to manually correct them? Or should I avoid uploading them altogether to prevent potential sin?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

You should only upload if it is generated without errors, or you can manually correct it; otherwise, it will be impermissible.

Follow the Path of the First Generation

Just like Allah (Most High) has promised its preservation, “Verily We ourselves have sent down the Remindance, And verily it We shall ever preserve.” [Quran, 15:09].

Then the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) ensuring the preservation of the Quran, being His life-long process for Him and His companions by following Divine instructions and envisioning the future of his umma.

We must follow this path and ensure we quote and share the correct wording and meanings. The Quran, which consists of all 114 chapters, is now easily accessible in various print and digital formats. This is due to the oral and textual efforts of the first generation of our umma; it has been fully and authentically preserved.
