Must an Excused Person (Ma‘dhur) Repeat Dhuhr If ‘Asr Time Enters Mid-Prayer?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
If an excused person (ma‘dhur) begins praying Dhuhr shortly before ‘Asr time enters, must they stop and repeat the prayer, or should they continue and complete their Dhuhr?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
I hope you are in faith and good health.
You will repeat your Dhuhr prayer because the wudu has become nullified.
In the case of an excused person (ma‘dhur), it is worth remembering here that wudu will become nullified due to the exiting of the prayer times and not the entering of the subsequent prayer time. [Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]
And Allah knows best.
I pray this helps with your question.
